Invitation cards for Kashmiri Pandit ceremonies and festivals
From Livun to Posh Puza, a Kashmiri Pandit wedding or Mekhal is a series of ceremonies, and relatives want to know which ones to attend, when and where. Most generic card apps don't know the names of these functions, let alone how the wording usually goes.
These cards start with traditional wording already written: an invocation such as ॥ श्री गणेशाय नमः ॥, the ceremony name, and the functions in the order they're usually held. Change the names, dates and venues, pick a design, and download.
Which card do you need?
- Mekhal
- For the Yagnopavit (sacred thread) ceremony, usually listing Devgon and the main Mekhal day.
- Livun
- For the ritual house-cleaning that opens the wedding celebrations.
- Devgon
- For the ceremony invoking the gods' blessings, held before the wedding or Mekhal.
- Wedding
- The main invitation, with Maenziraat, Lagan and the reception on one card.
- Herath and Navreh
- Square greeting cards for Mahashivratri and the Kashmiri New Year, made for WhatsApp.
Sizes, sharing and printing
Invitations use the classic 5×7 inch card size; greetings default to a square that looks best on phones. Download an image for WhatsApp (it's high resolution, so it stays sharp when zoomed) or a PDF for printing. Printers can print the PDF directly at 5×7 inches on card stock.
